HomeMy Public PortalAbout20020429minutesCITY OF JEFFERSON FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MONDAY, APRIL 29, 2002 MINUTES THOSE IN ATTENDANCE WERE AS FOLLOWS: CITY COUNCIL STAFF Mayor Tom Rackers Rich Mays Councilman Roy Viessman Allen Garner Councilman Dave Smith Steve Schlueter Councilman Larry Vincent Gail Strope Councilman Dan Klindt Melva Fast Councilman Edith Vogel Bill Lockwood Councilman Dick Groner Mark Edwards Councilman Charles Jackson Melva Fast Councilman Cliff Olsen Mark Edwards Councilman Bob Weber Eric Wilde Councilman Clyde Angle The meeting was called to order by Councilman Larry Vincent at 5:40 P.M. The first order of business was the selection of a Finance Committee Chairman. Nominations for the Chair were Councilman Larry Vincent and Councilman Clyde Angle. By a 6 to 4 vote Councilman Larry Vincent was elected the Finance Committee Chairman. The minutes of the Finance Committee Meeting held on April 15, 2002 were unanimously approved. City Administrator Rich Mays provided an overview of the Budget Process and referenced the current Police Department’s budget as an example of the format and the color coding used to distinguish the various sections of the budget. Questions followed. Finance Director Steve Schlueter provided an overview of the Budget calendar explaining the various crucial dates associated with the process. Questions followed. Rich Mays and Human Resources Director Gail Strope provided an overview of the Wage and Benefits currently provided for the City employees. Questions followed. Steve Schlueter provided an overview of the annual Audit and stated that the 2001 audit will be distributed with the Friday packet. This audit will be presented by Mr. Dale Siebeneck, a partner with Evers and Company, at the May 6, 2002 City Council Meeting. Gail Strope provided an overview of the Personnel Policy Manual. Questions followed. Gail Strope presented an overview of the proposed Personnel Policy changes. Each change was briefly discussed and additional questions followed the overview. Additional questions were raised regarding cell phones and City vehicles and Mr. Mays stated that this information will be collected and given to the Council. Adjournment took place at 7:35 P.M.
