Councilman Cindy Layton Councilman Bryan Pope The meeting was called to order by Finance Committee Chairman Kevin Brown at 5:33 P.M. The first order of business was the minutes of the Finance Committee Meeting held on January 9, 2006. A motion to approve was made by Councilman Martin and seconded by Councilman Edith Vogel. The motion to approve was 9 to 0. The City Administrator, Steve Rasmussen, introduced the next item on the agenda which covered the Personnel Salary Savings associated with the Central Maintenance Division. Mr. Rasmussen introduced Charlie Lansford and asked that he present the charts depicting the Central Maintenance Division. Several questions were asked regarding work flow and future needs of the division. The next item on the agenda covered the proposed FY 2007 Budget Schedule. Mr. Schlueter presented two slides and then Mr. Rasmussen followed with two additional slides. After the slides Mr. Rasmussen reviewed the new budget decision sequence by explaining the desired Council participation in the Goal Setting responsibility and asked that this participation take place during the front end of the budgetary process. After much discussion covering this new approach it was decided that there be two scheduled Council Work Sessions to cover these priorities in next year’s budget. The Council Work Sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 5:30 P.M. and Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 5:30 P.M. Both sessions will be held in the large conference room. Additional discussion took place regarding the need to seek public input on the proposed budget and the best way to accomplish this. The final agenda item, Other Business, included some brief comments about the role and make-up of the Rules Committee as well as the Finance and Public Works Committees. Further discussion will be held concerning these issues. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:33 P.M.
