A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING AN
AMENDMENT TO THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH THE LOS ANGELES
REGIONAL AGENCY
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood desires to maximize its diversion of solid waste
from landfills; and
WHEREAS, The City has partnered with the Los Angeles Regional Agency (LARA)
and its member agencies since 2002 to maximize diversion of solid waste; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1383 established mandatory reduction of organic waste;
and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1383 also requires that LARA revise and amend its Joint
Powers Agreement to reflect the required reporting and compliance monitoring related to
organic waste recycling.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby finds and declares
that the foregoing recitals are true and correct and incorporates them herein as findings
and as substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Lynwood authorizes the Mayor to
execute the amended Joint Powers Agreement.
Section 3. Authorize the Mayor to execute the Resolution for and on behalf of
the City of Lynwood.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
Section 5. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this Resolution and
hereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
