RESOLUTION NO. 2019-131 ADOPTED: September 10, 2019
A RESOLUTION: UPDATING TOWN COUNCIL'S ETHICS POLICY
WHEREAS, Town Council's current Ethics Policy was adopted in November of 2009; and
WHEREAS, Council desires to consider adding a Code of Conduct to its Ethics Policy that
contains guidance for council members in the performance of their duties as council members; and
WHEREAS, Council also desires to include a disciplinary process for the Council to use if
necessary.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Town Attorney is directed to update the Council's Ethics Policy by making necessary changes to
comply with the Code of Virginia; by inserting a code of conduct including a disciplinary process;
and to present drafted amendments to the Ethics Policy to Council for discussion at a future work
session.
PASSED this 10th day of September, 2019.
