HomeMy Public PortalAbout2019_09_10_R135 Requests for Capital Funding from the County of Loudoun for Fiscal Year 2021The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED: September 10, 2019 RESOLUTION NO. 2019-135 ADOPTED: September 10, 2019 A RESOLUTION: REQUESTS FOR CAPITAL FUNDING FROM THE COUNTY OF LOUDOUN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021 WHEREAS, the County of Loudoun annually solicits funding requests from the Loudoun towns as part of the County's Capital Improvement Program and budget development process; and WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg Capital Improvements Program includes multiple projects that will mutually serve both the Town of Leesburg and the County of Loudoun; and WHEREAS, in July 2019, the County of Loudoun solicited town requests for Fiscal Year 2021 funding for projects that are generally limited to: (1) capital improvements to facilities owned by the County or located within the Town, but operated by the County; and (2) local pedestrian or transportation related improvements that benefit the County; and WHEREAS, the Town has identified several pedestrian and transportation related projects in the Town's current Capital Improvements Program that meet the County's funding criteria that includes the widening of Evergreen Mill Road, a Traffic Signal at Sycolin Road and Gateway Drive; ADA pedestrian projects in proximity to County of Loudoun facilities; Public Bus Shelters; and a Traffic Study to measure the impacts of the Courthouse Expansion in conjunction with other anticipated development in downtown Leesburg. In addition, funding for Veterans Park at Balls Bluff is being requested to cover anticipated increases in the total cost of the project. THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Town Council respectfully submits the following Capital funding requests in the total amount of $6,528,200 for consideration during the County of Loudoun's Fiscal Year 2021 budget development deliberations: -2- A RESOLUTION: REQUEST FOR CAPITAL FUNDING FROM THE COUNTY OF LOUDOUN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021 • $2,000,000 in additional funding for Veterans Park at Balls Bluff. • $3,000,000 for Evergreen Mill Road Widening. • $750,000 for a Traffic Signal at Sycolin Road and Gateway Drive. • $400,000 for ADA projects in proximity to County of Loudoun facilities • $178,200 for Public Bus Shelters. • $200,000 for a Traffic Study to measure the impacts of the Courthouse Expansion in conjunction with other anticipated development in downtown Leesburg. PASSED this 10th day of September, 2019.
