A RESOLUTION: APPROPRIATION OF TREE BANK MITIGATION FUNDING TO THE
GREENWAY FARMS AND STRATFORD HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATIONS
PLANTING PROJECTS
WHEREAS, the Greenway Farms and Stratford Homeowner Associations (HOA) have presented
Town staff with planting plans and requests for monetary assistance for their projects; and
WHEREAS, trees provide a multitude of benefits to urban and peri-urban communities in helping to
clean our water, scrubbing our air, and mitigating the effects of urbanization that includes increased water
flow, heat absorption, decreased green space, and recreational opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the Tree Bank Mitigation Fund can be used for tree installation projects across the Town
of Leesburg in efforts for both public and private partners to work together to enhance and supplement the tree
canopy in Leesburg to allow the Town to become a cleaner, cooler, and greener community; and
WHEREAS, the Tree Commission and Town staff including the Town's Urban Forester support these
projects to enhance the tree canopy in the Town of Leesburg.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that:
I. An appropriation is made from the Tree Bank Mitigation Fund to the Department of Public
Works budget to fund the two separate tree planting projects in the amount of $9,722.00, to be
used for tree installation projects at Stratford Homeowners Association (13 trees for $4,400)
and Greenway Farms Homeowners Association (10 trees for $5,322), on a reimbursement
basis, once all requirements of the Town are met by the Homeowners Associations.
