RESOLUTION NO. 2019-169 ADOPTED: November 12, 2019
A RESOLUTION: TRAFFIC STUDY FOR EAST MARKET STREET INTERSECTIONS
WITH PLAZA STREET AND FORT EVANS ROAD
WHEREAS, the Public Works and Capital Projects Department has an approved
budget of $215,000 in its operating budget for studies during Fiscal Year 2020; and
WHEREAS, the addition of a Traffic Study for East Market Street Intersections with
Plaza Street and Fort Evans Street will have scheduling and completion implications for the
other approved studies in the Fiscal Year 2020; and
WHEREAS, in order to accommodate this Traffic Study within staff's work plan
capacity for Fiscal Year 2020, staff recommends deferring the currently scheduled 1st, 2nd,
and Wirt Street Sidewalk and Drainage Project study until Fiscal Year 2021; and
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year 2020 funding for 1st, 2nd, and Wirt Street Sidewalk and
Drainage project study can be utilized to complete a Traffic Study for East Market Street
Intersections with Plaza Street and Fort Evans Street in Fiscal Year 2020; and
WHEREAS, no additional funding is needed.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that
the Fiscal Year 2020 planned 1st, 2nd, and Wirt Street Sidewalk and Drainage Project study is
hereby postponed until Fiscal Year 2021; and $25,000 of the Fiscal Year 2020 Public Works
and Capital Projects operating budget for studies is hereby approved to conduct a traffic
improvement study on the East Market Street Intersections with Plaza Street and Fort Evans
Road.
