A RESOLUTION: VIRGINIA TREES FOR CLEAN WATER GRANT AUTHORIZATION
FOR 2019-2020
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Forestry is accepting applications for the 2019-
2020 Virginia Trees for Clean Water Grant where a 50/50 match in funds to be used for
municipal areas or riparian buffers; and
WHEREAS, trees provide a multitude of benefits to urban and peri-urban communities in
helping to clean our water, scrubbing our air, and mitigating the effects of urbanization; and
WHEREAS, the Tuscarora Creek Flood Mitigation and Stream Restoration Project meets
the requirements of the grant and has an approved landscape plan with funding; and
WHEREAS, adjacent residents have requested larger trees installed in this area which are
not funded for this project, but which could be funded through the Virginia Trees for Clean
Water grant from the Virginia Department of Forestry.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Town Manager is hereby authorized to sign the Virginia Trees for Clean Water application for
2019-2020, and submit it to the Virginia Department of Forestry.
