A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR FUNDING FOR LANDSCAPING OF THE
ROUTE 15 (SOUTH KING STREET) WIDENING PHASE II
WHEREAS, the Route 15 (South King Street) Widening Phase II project was included in
the Town's Fiscal Year 2017-2021 Capital Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, the project was completed in December 2016 with the exception of
landscaping due to project funding for this portion of the project; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation only allows for one contract under
the construction phase of work for their agreement; and
WHEREAS, the landscaping portion of work represented a second contract under the
construction phase of work which required the creation of a new agreement with the Virginia
Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, Town staff worked with the Virginia Department of Transportation to form a
new agreement with the Virginia Department of Transportation, and to transfer the remaining
funding from the original agreement to the new agreement for the landscaping portion of the work;
and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation has awarded an agreement to the
Town in the amount of $209,356 for landscaping on the project; and
WHEREAS, the grant amount of $209,356 represents 100% of eligible project landscaping
costs.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Town Manager is authorized to execute any and all documents associated with the Virginia
Department of Transportation agreement for the Route 15 (South King Street) Widening Phase II
project.
