A SPECIAL ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING MAP AT
1501 EAST MAIN STREET
WHEREAS the zoning map designates real estate at 1501 East Main Street
as R-3 One to Eight Family Residence District, and
WHEREAS it is desirable to change the zoning designation to C-2 Commercial
District to accommodate commercial development of the area,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, that the zoning designation of the real estate at 1501 East Main Street, which is
Auditor's Map Number 46-33-340-712.001-29 is hereby changed to C-2 Commercial
District.
Passed and adopted this 5th day of February 1996, by the Common Council of the City
of Richmond, Indiana.

This ordinance is a rezoning of the First Friends Church property at 1501 East Main Street from R-
3 One to Eight Family Residence district to C-2 Commercial District to accommodate commercial
development of the area consistent with the use of land to the east and north.
The ordinance should be referred to Plan Commission for public hearing at its meeting on January
23, 1996.
The ordinance could be back to Council for second reading on February 5, 1996.

Dear Mrs. Allen:
Please advise the members of Common Council that the Richmond Advisory Plan
Commission conducted a public hearing, Tuesday, January 23, 1996, on the petition
of Whitewater Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, aka First
Friends Church, owner; George Reller, agent; requesting a rezoning from R-3 One
to Eight Family Residence District to C-2 Commercial District at 1501 East Main
Street, Richmond, Indiana.
Notices were delivered to ten surrounding property owners, with no comments
returned to this office.
The Plan Commission voted 9 in favor, with 1 opposed, and 1 absent, to
recommend the passage of Ordinance No. 3-1996.
