Rising TYde Food Pantry is in need of: canned fruit, canned meat, rice, grits, soup, jelly and peanut butter. Distribution is third Tuesday each month. A donation barrel is in the City
Hall lobby for your convenience.
View the City Calendar at www.cityoftyee.org for a listing of all City and non-profit events.
City Hall to Remain Closed on Saturdays
Because Saturday hours are not heavily used, and in an effort to control costs, City Hall will not be reinstating Saturday hours this summer. The lobby is open early every day from 7:30
until 5:00 to provide access for those who work on weekdays. If you have a payment to make, you can always drop it in the secure lockbox just to the right of the lobby door.
Orange Crush is Anticipated This Month
The season is under way, and the crowds associated with Orange Crush are expected this month. According to the buzz on social media, it would appear the visitor rush could happen on
the Saturdays of April 13th, April 20th, or even on both days. Traffic will be heavy on the roads, and foot traffic will be everywhere. As with any large event, TIPD will have extra
staff to step up enforcement efforts. Please drive carefully! If you’re on foot, be cautious at any crossing.
As tourist season begins, all our weekends will be busy, with every-day crowds to follow – please continue to exercise caution for the whole season! Remember, the speed limit on Butler
is 30 MPH! Stop for pedestrians attempting to cross at any crosswalk! If you are cycling, please use the bike routes on Second Avenue for north-south travel, and Van Horn for east-west.
Cycling on Jones Avenue is a danger to yourself and to drivers, while car doors, pedestrians, and heavy vehicle traffic make cycling on US Hwy 80 exceptionally dangerous.
Better Hometown Training and Planning Session
The Better Hometown Board of Directors facilitated Organizational Workshop will take place April 17, 5:30pm – 7pm followed by the 2013 – 14 Work Planning Session for the Main Corridor
until 8pm. This workshop/planning session will take place in Room 6 at the Old School. The public is invited.
Council and Commission Meetings Online
For those of you without Comcast cable, Council and Planning Commission Meetings are now online. Meetings will be uploaded to http://cityoftybee.pegcentral.com, which can take several
hours, so each meeting will be available the next morning - sorry, no live streaming! Selected content will be made available from our cable schedule. Please let us know what you’d
like to see at feedback@cityoftybee.org.
GMA-Sponsored Georgia Cities Week
Georgia Cities Week will be April 20th–27th. As part of activities to support this event, the public is invited to the City Employee Meet and Greet at Memorial Park on Wednesday, April
24, 2013 from 3 to 5 pm. Every department will be showcasing equipment and will have staff on hand to talk about special initiatives and programs as well as to answer any questions
you may have about city operations. The city will also be inviting state legislators, county officials and local municipal officials to this event.
Recycling Schedule
Along with this month’s bill and newsletter, we are once again providing the year’s recycling schedule to help you remember which week to put out your recycling bin. While there is a
possibility of moving to weekly pickup instead of biweekly, until that service change is made, we want to make it as easy as possible to remember when your neighborhood will be serviced.
We also have placed reminders on our web pages – you will find the immediate schedule near the top of the home page, and the full year’s schedule on the City Calendar pages!
To Address City Council
…about existing agenda items, please ask to be recognized during public comments. To get on the agenda, file an Agenda Request with the City Clerk by noon, Wednesday, eight days prior
to the Meeting! Council meets 2nd & 4th Thursday, 7PM, each month. Visit City Hall or our web site for a copy of the form. If you are speaking or presenting to Council, please be aware
you must provide a copy of your presentation no less than 48 hours in advance to the Clerk or to IT staff at City Hall!
