What is a buffer? The 25-feet of natural vegetation along the bank of a creek or marsh is referred to as a buffer, which separates water or marsh from developed lawns, buildings, driveways, etc. Buffers: include grass, shrubs, and trees, which hold the soil; filter sediment, fertilizers, pesticides, vehicle fluids, pet waste, and other pollutants; and, help prevent property loss due to erosion. If a creek or marsh is on your property, your efforts to protect, preserve, and enhance this buffer are important. Land-disturbing activities in buffers are regulated. A permit may be required. Contact Planning & Zoning, 472-5030, before beginning any project in the buffer or the creek/marsh it protects. New Drive-by Automatic Meter Readers New, drive-by-reading water meters will be installed during July, proceeding for up to six months until all meters are converted. The new Neptune Water Meters will be installed by Delta Municipal Supply. Make sure your meters are easily visible and accessible as required by City Ordinance. Thanks for your help!
