Distribution is third Tuesday each month. The pantry is housed in the Old School Cafeteria. View the City Calendar at www.cityoftyee.org for a listing of all City and non-profit events. Third Thursdays on Tybee The Main Street program kicks off the fall season at the Roundabout at the corner of the Strand and Tybrisa. For details about the events and musicians this fall, visit the “Third Thursdays on Tybee” Facebook page. Keep your eyes peeled for the posters around town, too! Tourist Season Ain’t Over til it’s Over! Cycling on Butler or Jones is dangerous! If cycling on Tybee, please use the 2nd Ave bike route. If you are driving, keep in mind that cyclists have all the rights of a motor vehicle, and you MUST provide 3’ from the nearest cyclist when passing! We have a lot fewer tourists now that school is in session, but they’re still out there, especially on the weekends, and you STILL have to STOP for any pedestrians crossing or trying to cross at any marked crosswalks. It is also illegal to pass a car stopped at a crosswalk – you must assume a pedestrian is crossing. Remember, the speed limit on Butler Ave is 30 MPH from the Curve to Tybrisa. Let your out-of-town guests and friends know! Waste Pickup Rules Yard waste is treated differently than kitchen garbage throughout the waste cycle. Please follow these steps: Yard waste is picked up every week by a different vehicle but on the same day, Wednesday, as recycling. Yard waste should be neatly stacked next to the curb. Clippings and leaves should be in bags that are waterproof or that are kept dry until picked up. Palm cuttings and tree branches should be kept in piles and tied in bundles no more than 4 ft. long, 4 ft. high, and 4 ft. tall. You may call WastePro directly at 912-965-0777. However, for best response and to allow us to track your issues better, we recommend using the online method, below. If WastePro: misses your yard trash; misses any other pickups; needs to schedule a special pickup for furniture, appliances or large loads; if you have another complaint; or if you’d like to commend one of their employees, please use our online forms at http://www.cityoftybee.org – click the “Recycling and Waste” button at the top of the page. To Address City Council …about existing agenda items, please ask to be recognized during public comments. To get on the agenda, file an Agenda Request with the City Clerk by noon, Wednesday, eight days prior to the Meeting! Council meets 2nd & 4th Thursday, 7PM, each month. Visit City Hall or our web site for a copy of the form. If you are speaking or presenting to Council, please be aware you must provide a copy of your presentation no less than 48 hours in advance to the Clerk or to IT staff at City Hall!
