Bikes, Pedestrians, Speed Limits Please do not ride bicycles on Jones nor on Butler. Use the bike route on 2nd Ave. Vehicles must STOP for any pedestrians crossing or trying to cross at any marked crosswalks. It is illegal to pass a car stopped at a crosswalk –assume a pedestrian is crossing. The speed limit on Butler is 30 MPH from the Curve to Tybrisa. Waste Pickup Rules Yard waste is treated differently than garbage throughout the waste cycle. Please follow these steps: Yard waste is picked up weekly on Wednesdays, the same day as recycling, but in a different truck. Yard waste should be neatly stacked next to the curb. Clippings and leaves should be in waterproof bags or paper bags kept dry until picked up. Palm cuttings and tree branches should be piled and tied in bundles no more than 4 ft. x 4 ft. x 4 ft. Service is limited to a total of five (5) cubic yards per service address per week. You may call WastePro directly at 912-965-0777. However, we recommend using the online method, below. If you have any requests or complaints for WastePro, please use our online forms at http://www.cityoftybee.org – click “Recycling and Waste” at the top of the page. 2013 Mayors’ Motorcade Tybee will once again participate in the Mayors’ Motorcade bringing clothing, personal care, and entertainment items to the Savannah Regional Hospital. Please bring your donations to City Hall no later than December 2nd. DPW Projects During December, DPW will be working on several projects of which you should be aware: ADA sidewalk installation along east side of Butler between 18th and 19th Streets begins Nov 25, could last up to 2 weeks; 12th street crossover continues with completion scheduled for mid-December; and, drainage at 12th & Jones to begin in mid-December. Planning Commission Openings Applications are available online or outside the City Clerk’s Office for openings on the Planning Commission. Please submit applications and résumés to Clerk of Council by 5PM, January 2. This term will expire on January 31, 2016. Appointments will be made at the January 9, 2014 Council Meeting. Police Department is Open for Business! Despite the construction under way at the Van Horn Police Station, you can still get in to speak to officers, detectives, and other staff. Please contact the Dispatch desk at 786-5600 to make arrangements to come in an alternate entrance. Of course, continue to call 911 for emergencies! To Address City Council …about agenda items, please speak during public comments. To get on the agenda, file an Agenda Request with the City Clerk by noon, Wednesday, eight days prior to the Meeting! Council meets 2nd & 4th Thursday, 7PM, each month. Visit City Hall or our web site for the form. If you are presenting to Council, you must provide your presentation no less than 48 hours in advance to Clerk or IT staff!
