Bikes, Pedestrians, Speed Limits Please do not ride bicycles on Jones nor on Butler. Use the bike route on 2nd Ave. Vehicles must STOP for any pedestrians crossing or trying to cross at any marked crosswalks. It is illegal to pass a car stopped at a crosswalk –assume a pedestrian is crossing. The speed limit on Butler is 30 MPH from the Curve to Tybrisa. Waste Pickup Schedules Changing! Tybee Island Service Schedule for 2014: Monday / Thursday Residents: Garbage / Recycle / Yard Waste will all be picked up on Mondays. Thursday will be waste only. Tuesday / Friday Residents: Garbage / Recycle / Yard Waste will all be picked up on Tuesdays. Friday will be waste only. Wednesday / Saturday Residents will see no changes. Please call (912) 965-0777 if you have any questions.  Water and Sewer Department Reminder Pouring grease and cooking oils into your drain can damage your home’s sewer and drainage systems and lead to expensive repairs. Be sure to let your grease and oils cool before putting them into a container and then placing them in the trash! Commission Openings Applications are available online or outside the City Clerk’s Office for openings on the Planning Commission. Please submit applications and résumés to Clerk of Council by 5PM, January 2. This term will expire on January 31, 2016. Appointments will be made at the January 9, 2014 Council Meeting. In addition, the Ethics Commission has six openings for the 2014 year. Application and more details are available online on the Committees > Ethics Commission page on the web, or you may stop by and see the City Clerk. Positions will be open until filled! Police Department is Open for Business! Despite the construction under way at the Van Horn Police Station, you can still get in to speak to officers, detectives, and other staff. Please contact the Dispatch desk at 786-5600 to make arrangements to come in an alternate entrance. Of course, continue to call 911 for emergencies! Council meets 2nd & 4th Thursday, 7PM, each month. Visit City Hall or our web site for the form. If you are presenting to Council, you must provide your presentation no less than 48 hours in advance to Clerk or IT staff!
