HomeMy Public PortalAboutRES 99/04" 't �� .��,:. i..ry.. .��.�� '} ��,._ Fr= rFk$��r's,....+��4i'.Jr. ,:�� "y}.. 1 ?ir *.aan -a. ��._.... .... xedti.;..,:iw.a" . ;;;i i��.: --- RESOLUTION NO. 99 -4 A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO MEMBERS OF THE HISTORIC HIGHWAY COMMITTEE FROM THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM WHEREAS, the two mile section of AlA within the Town of Gulf Stream represents a gateway to our community and an important part of the Town's history; and WHEREAS, the Historic Highway Committee was created in 199E to advise the Town Commission on matters associated with the preservation, landscaping and enhancement of this community asset; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Jeanne Breazeale and Mrs. Kim Tiernan were appointed as charter members in 1992 and Mrs. Cynthia Neeves was appointed in 1994 to lenc their considerable talents to this esteemed board; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Breazeale served as the first Chairman of the advisory committee until 1997 and skillfully led successful efforts to preserve the existing stately pine canopy and secure historic status for the roadway; and WHEREAS, the gavel was handed to Mrs. Neeves who has provided critical leadership for the past two years, during which time a significant landscape enhancement project has been professionally designed and implemented; and WHEREAS, Mr.George Kagan and Mr. Charles Russell were appointed in 1997 to add their valuable experience, skills and good humor to the group; and WHEREAS, during its tenure, the committee has contributed to the historic highway through preservation of existing trees, supplemented landscaping, an( designs for road signage; and WHEREAS, the committee provided design ideas, creativity, and attention to detail that have improved the travelling experience along AlA; and WHEREAS, Gulf Stream is fortunate to have residents with a sense of civic commitment, and willingness to serve as a resource to the Town; and WHEREAS, the Committee's work will serve as an enduring part of the Town's legacy. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: THAT THIS RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION BE EXTENDED TO THE MEMBERS OF THE HISTORIC HIGHWAY COMMITTEE FOR THEIR DEDICATION AND DEVOTED SERVICES TO THIS COMMUNITY.
