Item #: ) e -- CITY OF BEA UMONT Staff Report Date: July 1, 2003 To: Mayor and Council Members From: City Manager Subject: Adoption of Ordinance No. 846 City Council Compensation. Background: Government Code sets the method for determining the compensation for City Council members. Following each election, the amount of compensation should be reviewed, with appropriate changes made. This Ordinance would amend the compensation that the Council would receive, effective July 1, 2003. The increase is per Government Code for the City's published population. This is the first increase in many years. Analysis: The City Council members are currently paid $300.00 per month. This Ordinance will increase pay by 5% to $315.00. There is no other compensation. This increase, if passed, will become effective July 1 and continue and continuing until December 1, 2003, or until this Ordinance is repealed, whichever is later. Fiscal Impact: The increase will be charged and was included in the General Fund and Special Funds Budgets. There should be no additional budget impacts and costs have been factored into the existing budgets. Recommendation: Adopt Ordinance No. 846 at its second reading. Respec ' 1 - Submitted: Alan C.
