TIPD-VIP TYBEE ISLAND ADULT GROUP
HELPING OUR NEIGHBORS
TIPD Chief Robert Bryson is creating a new group to be propelled by adult residents giving back to each other - helping to accomplish whatever needs to be done for the comfort and companionship
of fellow residents. The YMCA has come on board to give their support, and our restaurants have come forward, too, giving their goods and support to this project.
Still in the planning stages, we are interested in all input, so please come to add your voice. Visit with your neighbors, and learn more about what we can do for our friends on the
island.
Our ultimate goal is for a kinder, happier group of helpful neighbors on Tybee. If you are unable to attend, due to health or other needs, you are one of our more cherished VIP’s. We
are seeking to offer our help. If you are not needing help, we need you to help others, and if you need help getting the garbage out from your second story house, but have a need to
give back, well… we need you too!
We intend to have monthly meetings with island restaurants contributing free lunches! Our next meeting is at the YMCA cafeteria on March 23rd. The Rock House is contributing lunch! All
who wish to volunteer their help, please arrive at 10am. Lunch is served at 11am.
For further questions, contact Chief Bryson directly at 912-472-5091. Come be our neighbor and bring a friend!
DPW Crossover Rebuild Schedule
DPW is working in the off-season, as usual, to replace dune crossovers as needed. 7th Street crossover has just completed. The 9th Street crossover will finish mid-April.
Homestead Exemption
Applications must be filed each year to be eligible for senior rates on utility bills and exemption from ad valorem taxes on real and personal property. The deadline for filing for Homestead
Exemption is April 1. Individuals qualifying for the Homestead Exemption must, as of January 1, be 62 years old, have a total combined household income of less than $30,000 for 2014,
own a Tybee home, and have legal residency here. Applications are available at City Hall or under the Forms link on the City website. Forms must be submitted with a copy of your 2014
tax return, or, if you do not file, a copy of your year end 2014 Social Security statement.
Jones Avenue Being Repaved
The exact date isn’t yet known, but with completion of the water supply line replacement, Jones will be repaved after St. Patrick’s Day, which should complete within a day, although
cross-walk stamping will take about a week. The cross-walks will be done similar to those on Hwy 80. DPW will notify the community when the date is set via the web, Channel 7, automated
Citizen Alert notification, Twitter, and Facebook. If you live on Jones, be sure to check these sources so you can plan your daily business as needed!
IMPORTANT CHANGES TO YOUR UTILITY BILL EFFECTIVE MARCH 2015
The following is a summary of changes that will impact Water Utility customers of the City of Tybee Island effective March 2015.
January and February consumption will be billed the first of March and will be due March 25, 2015. January’s consumption will be calculated and updated. February’s consumption will be
calculated and updated, and then mailed with both months due. January’s consumption will show as past due. The bill will be double billed in order to decrease the gap between meter
reads and revenue collections and to allow you as a customer to find out how much water was consumed during the previous month much sooner. Please understand that this is your bill
for January and also February for services already rendered.
Please contact us if you are on a fixed income or need to set up a partial payment plan before the due date of March 25, 2015. This plan would apply to the January and February billing
only. No late fees will apply if you are current with your bill and contact us to set up a payment plan prior to the due date.
Bringing this bill up to date is a much needed step in order for us to be compliant and meet the audit requirements of our Internal Controls. If you have any questions please feel free
to contact Nalene Conway at the Utility Billing Department at 912-472-5025.
