Our Regular Reminder
As long as cyclists don’t obey traffic rules or automobiles pass pedestrians trying to use crosswalks, we will continue to remind you about traffic rules. Cycling on Butler or Jones
is dangerous! If cycling on Tybee, please use the 2nd Ave bike route. If you cycle, you have all the responsibilities of any vehicle; vehicles must ride WITH traffic, stay OFF the sidewalk,
and STOP at a stop sign! If you are driving, keep in mind: cyclists have all the rights of a motor vehicle, and you MUST provide 3’ of space when passing a cyclist! You must STOP for
any pedestrians crossing or trying to cross at any marked crosswalks. It is illegal to pass a car stopped at a crosswalk – you must assume a pedestrian is crossing! Remember, the speed
limit on Butler Ave is 30 MPH from the Curve to Tybrisa. Let your out-of-town guests and friends know, too!
Comcast Local Access Channel 7
It’s been over a month now since a Comcast outage caused a problem for hundreds of Tybee residents, but people are still complaining about being unable to see Tybee content on Channel
7. If you are seeing a 24-hour-commercials program on your Comcast Channel 7, your “map” code has been set incorrectly. This is a Comcast problem, not anything that the City can fix
for you, although we do have a trouble report into Comcast and they are trying to put a general fix in place. In the meantime, to restore Tybee programming to your channel 7, you have
to call Comcast (800 COMCAST) to request assistance for problems with your television service. When you finally speak to a representative, tell them that: you are getting incorrect
local access programs; that Savannah’s service area has two map codes, one for Savannah and one for Tybee; that your map code has been set to Savannah, but it should be for Tybee; that,
yes, it CAN be changed by customer service reps; and if the phone rep with whom you are speaking doesn’t know how to do it, you need to be transferred to a supervisor or someone else
who does. Don’t let them hang up because they don’t know how to fix the problem, because you’ll have to start over if they do! You can only get this fixed, for now, by having a Comcast
telephone representative fix it for you.
New Number for WastePro
WastePro has discontinued their Savannah area local phone number. If you are unable to use the online forms for your waste service issues, please call WastePro directly at 843.645.4100.
To Address City Council
…about agenda items, please speak during public comments. To get on the agenda, file an Agenda Request with the City Clerk by noon, Wednesday, eight days prior to the Meeting! Council
meets 2nd & 4th Thursday, 7PM, each month. Visit City Hall or our web site to obtain the form. If you are presenting to Council, you must provide your presentation no less than 48 hours
in advance to Clerk or IT staff!
Other City Communications
Watch us on Comcast Public Access Channel 7 – if you don’t get this channel, call COMCAST at 800-COMCAST during business hours, M-F, and ask them to fix your MAP CODE to Tybee!
