Our Regular Reminder As long as cyclists don’t obey traffic rules and cars pass pedestrians in crosswalks, we will continue to remind all: Cycling on Butler or Jones is dangerous! Please use the 2nd Ave bike route. Cyclists have all the responsibilities of vehicles! Cyclists also have all the rights of a motor vehicle, and drivers MUST provide 3’ space when passing a cyclist! You must STOP for any pedestrians crossing or trying to cross at any marked crosswalks. It is illegal to pass a car stopped at a crosswalk – you must assume a pedestrian is crossing. Remember, the Butler Ave speed limit is 30 MPH from the Curve to Tybrisa. Let out-of-town guests and friends know, too! Main Street’s Tybee for the Holidays Tybee for the Holidays continues until New Year’s Day. Community of Caring donation locations and needed items can be found at http://www.tybeefortheholidays.com/community-of-giving/. The Lights on for Tybee Celebration is December 4 beginning at 6:30pm at the roundabout on Tybrisa at the Strand. Tybee Christmas Parade is December 5 beginning at 1pm. And more! Check out www.tybeefortheholidays.com for holiday day dining info and church services, events, and Tybee traditions this holiday season. Recycle your Plastic Grocery Bags Several locations now have boxes available for recycling plastic bags. Look for the boxes at River’s End Campground, T.S. Chu’s Department Store, City Hall, Tybee IGA Market, the Visitors’ Center, and the YMCA. No need to go off-island to get rid of your excess plastic bags! As with all recycling, there is little profit margin in this business. Please do not contaminate plastic bag recycling with any material other than plastic film and bags. Likewise, keep garbage out of the recycling bin! Contaminated loads are rejected at the recycling center, costing the City, and YOU, more transportation and tipping fees! Holiday Giving TIPD will have a blue donation barrel in the lobby for Oceanside Nursing Home residents as well as for food donations to the Rising TYde Food Bank. Mayors’ Motorcade will take place December 2nd, so get donations for Georgia State Hospitals residents to the clerk’s office before then! To Address City Council …about agenda items, please speak during public comments. To get on the agenda, file an Agenda Request with the City Clerk by noon, Wednesday, eight days prior to the Meeting!
