Plastic bag recycling locations: River’s End Campground, T.S. Chu’s Department Store, City Hall, Tybee IGA Market, the Visitors’ Center, and the YMCA. New Flashing Pedestrian Crossing Lights New flashing crosswalk signs should be operational at every marked intersection on the island by the time you see this newsletter. As state law requires, you must stop at any marked intersection, whether there are lights or not, if there is a pedestrian attempting to cross. It is illegal to pass a car stopped at a crosswalk – you must assume a pedestrian is crossing. Pedestrians should cross at marked crosswalks and should always operate the lights. Cycling on Butler or Jones is dangerous! Please use the 2nd Ave bike route. Cyclists have all the responsibilities of vehicles, including stopping at stop signs! Cyclists also have all the rights of a motor vehicle, and drivers MUST provide 3’ clearance when passing a cyclist! Remember, the Butler Ave speed limit is 30 MPH from the Curve to Tybrisa. TIPD Seeking Volunteers for Major Events TIPD is looking for volunteers to help with large scale events for 2016 including Beach Bum, Orange Crush, Memorial Day and Fourth of July. Please, contact Chief Bryson at 912-786-5600. Recycling Plastics Plastic bags and packaging film can damage or kill our wildlife. Please be sure to use the bag recycling locations noted below the calendar above to recycle your plastic bags. Even though the return on recycled goods has been lower lately, our costs for landfill use and YOUR cost for waste services are still higher if we do not place as much recyclable materials in the recycle bins as possible. Please recycle!
