REGARDING THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the Richmond Code has established a Telecommunications Council
consisting of five voting members to be appointed by the Mayor and
Common Council; and
WHEREAS, the current code does not set forth a term of office for members of
the Telecommunications Council; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire to establish a set term for each member of the
Telecommunications Council, which terms shall be staggered in
order to provide continuity for the Council
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, that Chapter 32.30 of the Richmond Code is hereby amended by the following
additional sub -section:
(e) Terms
The terms of each Commission member shall be for a period of
four years; provided, in order to create staggered terms, the initial
members shall serve the following terms:
Mayor Appointments: One Two-year term; one Four-year term
Council Appointments: One Two-year term; one Three-year term;
one Four-year term.
Successors to all members of the commission shall be appointed for
terms of four (4) years except when appointed to fill a vacancy, in
which case the appointment shall be for the unexpired term. All terms
shall run by calendar year from January 1 (or date of appointment)
through December 31.
