Chu’s Department Store, City Hall, Tybee IGA Market, TIPD, & YMCA • Stop by the Zoning/Main Street office for your Locals Appreciation Card! Pedestrian Crossings State law requires you must stop at any marked intersection, with or without lights, if any pedestrian attempts to cross. It is illegal to pass a car stopped at a crosswalk – you must assume a pedestrian is crossing. Pedestrians, PLEASE, cross at marked crosswalks and always operate the lights. After pedestrians have cleared the intersection, vehicles may proceed without waiting for flashers to stop. Cycling on Butler or Jones is dangerous! Please use 2nd Ave bike route. Cyclists have all responsibilities of vehicles, including stopping at stop signs! Cyclists also have all rights of motor vehicles. Drivers MUST provide 3’ clearance when passing a cyclist! Remember, the Butler Ave speed limit is 30 MPH from the Curve to Tybrisa. Events not happening in November: The second City Council meeting does not occur during regularly scheduled slots in either November or December, due to the holidays. There is often a special called meeting during the month to handle last minute business cropping up. Watch the City Calendar page for announcements. Or, better, sign up for automatic notifications at http://cityoftybee.org/list.aspx. TIPD VIP Luncheons do not take place during November or December. The Public Safety Committee meeting, which would normally be during the holiday weekends of these months will also typically be rescheduled, but you’ll need to watch the calendar for an announcement during the month! Tybee for the Holidays Begins Tybee for the Holidays kicks off Thanksgiving weekend and runs through New Year’s Day! The month long celebration of the holiday season includes a variety of activities like Small Business Saturday on November 25 (it feels good to buy local!), parades, giving events, best decorated business awards, holiday shows, etc. Plus, many local restaurants will be open on holiday days so you can get out of the kitchen! Community of Caring donation locations this year include Caldwell’s Cottage, The Deck, Inferno, Justabreeze, Kelly & Co, River’s End, Sand Bar, TS Chu’s, Tybee Teeth, Wet Willie’s, and the Y. Donations of food will go to Rising TYde, toys go to Memorial Children’s Hospital, and pet supplies to the Animal Shelter. The easy to find comprehensive guide to the holidays is at http://tybeefortheholidays.com. Also, annual Mayor’s Motorcade donations can be made at the City Clerk’s office at City Hall. The Motorcade happens earlier in December, so make your donations this month! Don’t Forget to Vote Your vote counts! Cast your vote on election day, Tuesday, November 6th! Go to http://elections.chathamcount.org and click on the “My Voter Page” link to check your registration status, see where your voting site is located, and review sample ballots specific to your district – there are two on Tybee! To Address City Council …about existing agenda items, please speak during public comments. To get on the agenda, file an Agenda Request with the City Clerk by noon, Wednesday, eight days prior to the Meeting! Council meets 2nd & 4th Thursday, 7PM, each month. Visit City Hall or our web site to obtain the form. If you are presenting to Council, you must provide your presentation no less than 48 hours in advance to Clerk or IT staff!
