CALL TO ORDER: Dr. John Straus called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm.
Public Comment:
Heather McManus, Research Scientist commented on the need for Biotechnology regulations
and the draft regulations. She was asked if she had written comments she would like to submit
she indicated she would forward to the Board.
Mia Lieberman, who is a veterinarian, presented her comments on draft Regulations that were
being presented to the Board for consideration. Dr. Lieberman provided written comments.
Minutes
The minutes of the September 24, 2018 meeting were approved as amended (Motion - Dr. Beck,
Second R. Arnold, 3-0).
Re2ulatingBBiolo2ical Research Laboratories
The Board enquired about the process for adopting new regulations. They were advised that they
had to accept the draft, review, make comments /amend and once they make their final review it
would be finalized and put out for public comment. Schedule a meeting to receive public
comment. Then they would consider those comments and make decisions on final regulation.
Than vote for passage. The Board voted to accept the Regulations for consideration (motion
Arnold, second B. Beck- 3-0). The Board indicated that they would like to see the date of the
drafts indicated on the document. Footer will be made to show the date of the draft as it
progresses through the review process.
