RE: INTERCMANGE
DISCUSSION ~ 12 - NJ TURNPIKE
Mayor Reiman thanked everyone for coming out tonight to join the
Mayor and Council to hear the presentation of the Turnpike Authority.
He said he will close our meeting momentarily and turn it over to the
Turnpike. this will be their public hearing tonight on the Interchange
#12 upgrade. It's a long awaited project here in Carteret, something
that will stimulate $1,5 billion dollars in private reinvestment here in
Carteret. It's been a long time in the making. Many administrations,
mayors and councilmembers were fortunate that we have a hometown
guy in the governor's office... Governor McGreevey being raised here
and his family still living here. He thanked the Turnpike Authority for
coming down and the commissioner who spearheaded this project.
Bob Grimm who is the Assistant Chief Engineer will be the hearing
officer on the turnpike portion of the meeting. If there are any
questions from the public they will open it but the tmmpike has to open
up for any questions dealing with the interchange. He said they will
open the meeting for any questions of the Governing Body.
