HomeMy Public PortalAboutDraft Board of Health Minutes 11-26-2018BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING November 26, 2018 Watertown Administration Building, Third Floor Conference Room PRESENT: Dr. John Straus, Chairperson; Dr. Barbara Beck, Secretary; Richard Arnold, Board Member Staff: Larry Ramdin, Director of Public Health CALL TO ORDER: Dr. John Straus called the meeting to order at 7:13 pm. Public Comment: Heather McManus, Research Scientist commented on the need for Biotechnology regulations and the draft regulations. She asked if she had could offer comments on the Draft regulations and was advise that there will be a comment time at the net board meeting, but the Board will accept comments from her at this time. Minutes The minutes of the October 17, 2018 meeting were approved as amended (Motion - R. Arnold, Second Dr. Beck, 3-0). Introduction Erin Olson, Health Officer. Larry Ramdin Introduced Erin Olson, Health Officer to the Board. Ms. Olson indicated that she was happy to be with the Health Department and was grateful to be hired shortly her graduation from Worcester State University. She is currently working on her professional credentials and development. Regulating Biological Research Laboratories The Board reviewed the draft regulations and made amendments to the drafts after the review the final draft was accepted. The Board would accept public comments at their next meeting, they will accept written comment up to the Friday of the week following the Board meeting. (Motion Dr. Beck, second Mr. Arnold, 3-0) 1 1 Page Program Planning and Priority Setting The Board deferred to program planning for future date Future Meeting Scheduling Doodle poll will be done to schedule the next meeting. Department Updates The Board was advised that Kristel Bennett will be proceeding on maternity leave from December 3rd Rajit Gupta was awarded his Certified Professional Food Safety Credential (CP-FS) after successfully completing the examination. The Department in collaboration with the Council Aging will be offering an Ask a Nurse Program. Wil VanDinter Public Health Nurse, will be providing blood pressure screening and will provide advice on health concerns to the seniors.
