Tybee Island, Georgia
May 3, 1982
A special meeting of the Tybee Island City Council was called by
Mayor Michael J. Counihan for the purpose of certifying the results of
the Municipal Election, and for no other purpose. The meeting was called
to order at 8:35 p.m. and the following members of Council were present:
Jerome W. Bettencourt, Julianne J. Meyers, Nick C. Alexander, John J. Owen,
Jr., and James L. Fabrikant, Jr. Councilman William C. Fleetwood was not
present, nor was the City Attorney, Mr. James E. McAleer.
Mayor Counihan requested that the Clerk read the consolidated returns
as provided to the city by the Chatham County Elections Board, Superintendent
of the Tybee Island Municipal Election. A copy of those returns are attached
to, and became a part of, these minutes.
The following results were then declared certified:
For Mayor - Charles J. Hosti 522 votes
For Council - James L. Fabrikant, Jr. 524 votes
Sebastian J. Orsini 504 votes
Jeanne Mooney Hutton 454 votes
Jerome W. Bettencourt 436 votes
John C. Wylly, Jr. 410 votes
Kilma J. McCutchen 390 votes
Mayor Counihan then offered his personal congratulations to the two
incumbents who were re- elected, Mr. Bettencourt and Mr. Fabrikant.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
