Approve Minutes for October 11, 2023, Meeting:
Jim made a motion to approve the minutes from the Oct 11th Meeting, Kara 2nd
Everyone in favor for approval.
Eric's Report:
Closing up for Winter. Landscape's Unlimited laid sod before the snow came. Rain
has helped keep the sod wet and it should be growing good roots over the Winter
season. The tees should be ready to be cut in and played on come next golf
season. Already showing good signs of thatch.
The two snow mold trials are happening. The low mold blue got an aggressive
amount of fertilizer so this should help with growing.
Edging the boxes will take some work in the Springtime, however Eric was able to
get the tees rolled before the snow came.
He is working on getting all equipment and items put away for the season.
The greens have been sprayed and the granular fertilizer goes on after a good rain
and will soak through the covers, so this should be completed next week if the
weather pattern stays the same.
6 Birch, 9 Aspen and 5 and 6 Cedar have already been done before the freeze as
they are some of the greens that have seen the most issues in the past. This
spraying is a Winter protection for the Greens and all residue is gone by Spring.
Eric got a new snowblower for blowing off the greens in the Springtime, it is
adjustable and can be raised enough that it can blow off the snow from the
covers on the greens.
The Cedar greens are recovering well under the covers and are growing and
repairing themselves.
More tree removal is happening around the course with high priority being
around the greens and tees. 4 Birch had some trees removed/opened up around
the green. 4 Cedar will have more trees removed to allow for morning light. This
will happen this Fall if the weather conditions allow.
Cedar and Birch Tees will be sprayed with fungicide; the new sod on the newer
tees should not be a concern as the mold moves in from the older sod/existing
grasses.
Working on cleanup from all of the tee construction. The City of McCaII took the
pile of asphalt. The dirt piles will be used to fill in the holes between 4 and 5. The
pile on the side of 6 Birch will be moved and used to fill in holes and low points
throughout.
Will pack cart paths for now. Will reaccess Grinder at a later date.
Insurance replaced the irrigation pump. While doing the repairs Eric noticed that
someone had tried to pry into the roof of the irrigation building.
The plant lady is leaving and the nursery that Eric usually gets all flowers/plants
from is closed. So he is looking for replacements for both of these.
Eric needs to pull the Lift Station and look for parts for it. Will need to send to bid
and will try and send ramp project to bid at the same time.
8 Cedar bridge has been replaced.
Thinning crew and will keep some seasonals in case of a snow event in November
when Eric is on vacation.
David's Report:
Packing up shop, selling down merchandise and hoping for a good buying season.
He is working on financial reports/statements with the City and closing those up.
Matt will stay on through November 15th and is working on cleaning pro shop and
organizing. Phill started on the 31St of October and will be working on the buy for
the 2024 season.
David is looking forward to the 2024 season and setting a foundation for the
following years as the beginning year is out of the way and now has a better idea
of how the Golf Course operates and runs. He will be gone for Thanksgiving and
Christmas however Phill will be around and there will be some random hours
posted for the Pro Shop. Gift cards will be available via in person during the
posted hours or by email/phone calls.
