EXPERIENCE THE SPLENDOR OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON DURING TYBEE FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Tybee Island, GA (November 13, 2017) – Experience Tybee in a different light this holiday season with distinctive culture, dining, shopping, and festive small town excitement on the
coast. Decorations are being hung with care this week to ready the island for the holiday season which begins Thanksgiving Day and runs through New Year’s Day. Tybee for the Holidays
offers family-friendly fun to brighten the season that all can enjoy.
A few highlights to note as the Tybee for the Holidays 2017 season begins:
· Numerous island businesses are participating in Community of Caring. This year, donations are being collected throughout the season for the Rising TYde Community Food Pantry, the Animal
Shelter, and the Children’s Hospital at Memorial so that the true spirit of the holidays can be shared with others. A list of needed items and participating drop-off locations is available

· Small Business Saturday® on Tybee is on November 25. Recognizing the importance of supporting small, independently-owned businesses in our community, the City’s Development Authority/Main
Street Program is pleased to be a Neighborhood Champion for Small Business Saturday®. From city officials, to Tybee residents, to island visitors alike, all are encouraged to shop local

· Lights on for Tybee Celebration begins at 6:30pm on Friday, December 1 when Mayor Buelterman lights Tybee’s Christmas tree downtown at the Tybrisa/Strand Roundabout. Following the
tree lighting ceremony, there will be singing led by the Tybee Arts Performing Society, an awards presentation by Tybee Beautification Association for the best decorated businesses,
and dance performances by students with The Studio. Plus, a variety of businesses will have extended store hours and complimentary refreshments throughout downtown as “snow” flurries
fall to create a magical experience for the children. Ornaments hung on the Tybee Christmas Tree during this year’s Decorating Day on November 25 will include creations made by Tybee
Island Maritime Academy students. This hometown celebration will conclude with Santa and Mrs. Claus making a grand entrance as The Studio performers welcome them in a special way with
help from everyone attending.
· On Saturday, December 2, a variety of event for the holidays are taking place. Beginning at 10am is the Tybee Arts Association's House of the Christmas Mouse at the Arts Center. Then
at 1pm, the annual Tybee Island Christmas Parade begins filling the streets with festive floats and spirited parade participants leading Mr. and Mrs. Claus safely from the 14th Street
parking lot to the Tybee Gym on 5th Street. Parade applications are currently being accepted. Once they arrive at the gym, they will spend time listening to children’s Christmas wishes
and having photos taken. The YMCA will provide snacks and activities for all ages to enjoy. Then, that evening, a Girls Night Inn is taking place to benefit the Tybee Island Rising
TYde Community Food Pantry and the Lighthouse Christmas tours, where you can experience Christmas customs from days of the past, will begin.
Other activities, which include holiday-day dining, holiday shows and performances, two holiday lighted parades, tours, a “plunge” in the ocean, and more add to the joy of the season
on Tybee throughout the month. Tybee for the Holidays provides plenty of family-friendly fun to brighten the holiday season. All are welcome to witness the splendor of the island from

The City of Tybee Island, Georgia is the northernmost barrier island of Georgia. With a wild bird sanctuary, over three miles of ocean beaches, and salt marshes on the back river, outdoor
