HomeMy Public PortalAboutInfoSys Dept Report November 2020Memo / To: City Council From: Chris Curtin, Information Systems Manager CC: Anette Spickard, City Manager Date: 12/03/20 Re: Monthly Department Report – November 2020 Network Infrastructure, Projects and Services: InfoSys has been working toward supplying staff with additional technology needs for remote work. We have requested 6 Verizon hotspots modems that staff can request to supplement weak or non-existent internet access. Additionally, we have been looking at laptops for staff that currently are on a desktop. These purchases are supported through CARES funding and are a big help to employees. Projects in Process: The CARES grant project is moving along as expected. The deployment of fiber throughout the installed conduit has been completed. Building penetrations – Police, Water Treatment Plant, Golf Maintenance and the Golf Clubhouse, City Hall, and Airport are complete, and fiber has been deployed into these locations awaiting splicing and termination. # telecom huts have been deployed around the community to act as distribution points into neighborhoods for the RAPID network. These huts are located at the Water Treatment plant, in the City lot at the corner of Lick Creek and Davis Rd., and off of Deinhard\Boydston near Veronica St. These are pre-fab concrete structures. Splicing continues apace with the splicing in external junction boxes having been completed. Splicing inside buildings and structures is expected to be finished the first week of December. This project will need to be completed, billed, and paid before December 15, 2020 as a requirement of the grant. Personnel: Vlatko Jovanov, Network Administrator, has been working alongside our splicing contractor to familiarize himself with some of the basics of fiber splicing.
