After pedestrians clear the intersection, vehicles may proceed without waiting for flashers to stop. Cyclists, please, use 2nd Ave/Van Horn bike route. Cyclists have all responsibilities of vehicles, including stopping at stop signs! Cyclists also have all rights of motor vehicles. Drivers must provide 3’ clearance when passing a cyclist! Keeping Tybee authentic by design Thank you to everyone that came to the June 11 meeting for the South End Overlay District code update. The revisions are being presented during the next couple of months and progress is made with the design guidelines in accordance with the Resolution that council passed in March. These steps honor one of the top priorities documented in the Master Plan. July 4th The fireworks display will take place from the Pier just after dark on Wednesday, July 4th. Traffic will be difficult, so walk or bike to observe the festivities, and you know there will be problems with trash on the beach. The Fight Dirty Clean Beach volunteers will be out Thursday evening at 7PM as will DPW staff early Thursday morning. Help out if you can! Fight Dirty Tybee volunteers meet in front of the Marine Science Center. Repeated Seasonal Warnings With the advent of tourist season, be especially cautious at all pedestrian crossings, and watch out for distracted drivers. Tybee’s marsh and ocean views are magnificent, particularly for new visitors! Stay away from turtles and turtle nests! One of the reasons dogs are not allowed on the beaches. Pay close attention to CEMA and City communications as well as your favorite sources of hurricane information. It’s time to be wary, and prepared! City Manager’s Morning In City Manager Shawn Gillen meets Friday mornings for coffee at the Tybean in Tybee Oaks. Stop by to have a conversation, discuss city issues, make complaints, give kudos for staff, or make suggestions, between 9 and 10 AM Fridays. You’ll have to take care of getting your own coffee, but share of mind with the CM comes free! To Address City Council …about existing agenda items, please speak during public comments. To get on the agenda, file an Agenda Request with the City Clerk by noon, Wednesday, eight days prior to the Meeting! Council meets 2nd & 4th Thursday, 7PM, each month. Visit City Hall or our web site to obtain the form. If you are presenting to Council, you must provide your presentation no less than 48 hours in advance to Clerk or IT staff!
