SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has announced the availability of funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (aka “Bipartisan
Infrastructure Law”) though its Grants for Busses and Bus Facilities Program. These nationally competitive grants can support the construction of bus-related facilities. The City of
McCall is not eligible to directly apply for these funds but can submit projects via the Idaho Transportation Department’s Public Transportation Office to be bundled with other rural
Idaho projects in a larger state level multi-project grant request.
The City of McCall’s project proposes to make improvements to the public parking area behind City Hall and the McCall Transit Center that will encourage multi-modal transportation options
for residents and visitors in partnership with the local bus system. The project will tie into the recent site improvements at the Senior/Community Center and the parking area scheduled
for construction as part of the Library Expansion Project, and include paving, striping, landscaped islands, lighting, conduit for future EV charging stations, covered bicycle parking,
“Park and Ride” wayfinding, and ADA compliant sidewalk and crossings to/from the Senior Center, Central District Health, McCall Transit Center, and City Hall. Both Treasure Valley Transit
and Central District Health have been consulted during project design and have expressed support for the project. The total project cost is estimated at $1,569,711, which includes final
engineering design and construction.
