PERMIT FEE: The basement remodeling permit fee is $100.00. All Electric and Plumbing inspections are $25.00 per inspection. All re-inspect fees must be paid before the certificate of completion is issued. APPLICATION:  Check off items when complete. An incomplete permit packet will not be accepted.  Submit a competed application.  Submit 2 copies of the complete floor plan drawn to scale with measurements. Include the room layout, and identify the room uses, door and window locations and sizes, HVAC supply and return sizes and locations, electrical panel location and service size, switches, receptacles, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and all electrical fixtures. Plumbing: identify pump locations, identify new and existing locations for underground plumbing, water supplies, drains and all plumbing fixtures.  Detail wall section (see illustration page 4), including: framing material and size; air space between wall and foundation; draftstopping location and material; type and R-value of insulation; wall, floor and ceiling finishes.  Submit letter of intent -All letters of intent shall be on company letter head from plumbing and electrical contractors when applicable. Letters from corporations must have their corporate seal. Sole-proprietors, partnerships and homeowners shall be notarized. INSPECTIONS: 1. Pre-construction meeting at no charge, on job site (when applicable) 2. Underground Plumbing (when applicable) 3. Rough Building, Plumbing and Electrical: after all framing, plumbing, electrical and HVAC is complete and walls are ready for insulation, all rough inspections must be scheduled for the same day 4. Insulation 5. Above ceiling Building and Electrical; after all ceiling track, HVAC and electrical is complete and is ready for ceiling tile. (when applicable) 6. Final: All work must be 100% complete A permit number is required when scheduling an inspection. The Cut-off time for scheduling inspections is 3:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled inspection. Cancellations must be called in by 8:30 a.m. the day of scheduled inspection. Cancellations after 8:30 a.m. will be charged a re-inspection fee. The contractor is responsible for rescheduling the inspection (No Exceptions). NOTE: If permit is not picked up within 30 days of approval it will be VOIDED and you will have to reapply. 14400 S. The minimum opening height shall be 24” or greater, minimum opening width shall be 20” or greater. The window shall have a sill height of not more than 44” above the floor. A window well with a vertical depth greater than 44” shall be equipped with a permanently affixed ladder. Window well size 3’ x 3’. 1. All rooms will require HVAC, supply and return, bathrooms SUPPLY ONLY. 2. Bathrooms must have an exhaust fan vented to the exterior of the building. 3. Furnace and water heater rooms require combustion air from the exterior - if the appliance is not 90% efficient. 90% furnaces require a 2 pipe system. Water heaters do not require 2 pipe system. 4. Horizontal draft stopping is required between foundation walls and all framing, soffits, drop ceilings, and all penetrations in the top plate, you may use mineral wool insulation or great stuff. Must be completed by rough inspection (see illustration page 4). 5. Vertical draft stopping is required every 10’ and between the foundation walls and all framing, and in storage rooms or unfinished areas. Must be completed by rough inspection 6. All bottom plates must be treated. 7. Insulation is required in Rim Joist (add where missing) Must be completed by rough inspection. 8. Wall insulation requirements; R-15 continuous insulation sheathing or R-19 cavity insulation (no kraft-face paper exposed). 9. All assessable spaces under the stairs shall have drywall completely enclosing the stairs and adjacent walls. ELECTRICAL: 2014 NEC and the 2016 Village of Plainfield Building Codes. 10. A maximum of 8 opening are allowed per electrical circuit. 11. Do not overload main electric panel, install a Sub Panel if needed. 12. Minimum clearance for all electrical panels; 30”wide, 36”deep from face of panel and 6’-6” headroom. 13. Wire must be pulled prior to the Rough Electric Inspection. 14. A hardwire battery backup Carbon Monoxide Alarm will be required to be interconnected with the smoke alarms is required within 15’ of every room used for sleeping. 15. Smoke detectors with battery backup that are interconnected are required in all furnace rooms. 16. All bedrooms require Arc Fault circuits. 17. All electrical junction boxes must be accessible. PLUMBING: State of Illinois Plumbing Code (including all latest amendments and new sections adopted) and the 2016 Village of Plainfield Building Codes. 18. All sewer clean-outs, shut-offs and dampers must be accessible. 19. Water piping must be type L copper, water supplies for all plumbing fixtures must be hard piped.
