Falkoff, Councilor At Large Anthony Palomba, Councilor At Large Angeline B. Kounelis, District A Councilor Cecilia Lenk, District B Councilor Vincent J. Piccirilli, Jr., District C Councilor John J. Lawn, Jr., District D Councilor FROM: RE: DATE: Watertown Town Council Administration Building 149 Main Street Watertown, MA 02472 Phone: 617-972-6470 MEMORANDUM Michael J. Driscoll, Town Manager Angeline B. Kounelis, District Employee Administrative Leave October 4, 2010 nAu Councilor It has been brought to my attention that a Watertown Police Officer has been on paid administrative leave, possibly in excess of two months. As a Councilor, I state again, it is embarrassing to hear "on the street", information that has not been brought,to the attention of the Town Council. These are taxpayer dollars that have been expended for work not performed and an employees's career and family held in limbo. Consideration must also be given to the possible legal implications which is when the Town Council is notified. Namely to authorize monies for litigation - after the fact. Please supply the following information: 1. The names of all Town employees currently on administrative leave for alleged misconduct 2. The guidelines and time frame set forth in Town/Union contracts for the speedy resolution of employee issues 3. Reasons for the aforenoted employee's administrative leave that can be released within the confines of the law 4. A schedule for all pending administrative/legal actions for the aforenoted employee case In advance, I thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. cc: Honorable Town Council John E. Flynn, Town Clerk Mark R. Reich, Esq., Kopelman and Paige, P.C.
