SUMMARY STATEMENT:
In 2012, the City of McCall developed a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a separate contract for solid was services from Valley County to ensure a competitive process that would provide
the best value pricing for businesses and citizens. Lake Shore Disposal was selected as the Solid Waste Provider and is the current provider of solid waste services for the City of
McCall and Valley County. The current contract is in an automatic one-year renewal cycle beginning July 1, 2023 until the city gives 60 days notice prior to June 30 of any subsequent
year that it is terminating the contract. Since the initial 10 year contract period has expired it is prudent for the city to conduct an RFP process to evaluate options for service
provision.
Since 2012, there have been numerous proposals to add recycling on as a service and discussions of a compositing programs. Based on the McCall Area Comprehensive Plan, it states that
the City should support curbside recycling and composting.
Attached is a draft of the Solid Waste, Recycling and Composting RFP that has been preliminarily reviewed by the City Attorney and the most recent public outreach effort by the Communications
Manager.
