SUMMARY STATEMENT:
On June 18, 2020, MOSS intern Anna Lindquist introduced herself to the City Council and gave an introduction of her project and research on Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Climate Action
Planning concepts working with the CED Director and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability.
On July 9, 2020, the City Council adopted Resolution 20-13 adopting McCall’s Framework for Climate Action Planning and the 2018 Draft Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventories as official
Planning Documents.
On October 21, 2022, CED staff presented a work session on Sustainability and Climate Action Planning, identifying a need to complete updated Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventories for
the Community and Local Government Operations in preparation conducting McCall’s Climate Action Plan.
From March to December of 2023, CED Staff worked with ICLEI to complete data gaps in the 2018 GHG Inventories and repeat the inventory methods for data covering the 2021 Calendar Year
to view the impacts of the Covid-19 Pandemic and resulting increase in local activity to provide Science-Based Targets and baseline data for a future Climate Action Plan. Time has been
allocated for questions and any discussion. A summary memo of key findings, the final report, and resolution are attached for review.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve Resolution 23-26 adopting the final report 2021 McCall Inventory of Community Greenhouse Gas Emissions (Official) as a planning document and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary
documents.
