HomeMy Public PortalAbout2019 CED Annual ReportWhat We Do Mission Planning: Current planning improves the quality of life, design, infrastructure, and economy through the regulation of land development. The McCall Area Comprehensive Plan, the McCall City Code, and State and Federal regulations, and staff ensure that development pro- posals meet applicable codes. Staff supports the land use decision - making functions of the McCall Area Planning and Zoning Commission within the City and the Impact Area. Staff also supports the land use deci- sion -making functions of the City Council and the Valley County Board of Commissioners for the City and the Impact Area, respectively. Long range planning activities include the continual update and implementation of the McCall Area Comprehensive Plan, zoning and subdivision codes, and other policy and regulatory documents to better articulate the community's vision. Selected Statistics Community & Economic Development n<cc.:u �uionar Building: The building official is respon- sible for the creation of a safe, clean, `green' built environment within the City and Impact Area. Staff reviews building plans for conformance to the Internation- al Building Code (IBC) and other related codes and issues building permits. The building official performs inspections as required, ensuring that construction conforms to IBC and approved de- signs. Economic Development/Grant: Eco- nomic Development was formally added to the Department responsibilities Octo- ber 2017. This program umbrellas activi- ties includes grant writing, local housing and facilitating the public art program GIS: The Geographic Information Systems supports mapping and analysis efforts by providing accurate data, providing analysis and maps, and GIS training opportunities for employees. The department has a complementary mission of providing excellent, consistent and accurate public service delivery. Categories The responsibilities are divided into four main categories: 1. Planning (current & long range planning) 2. Building (building permits, plan review, building policy & inspection) 3. Economic development, housing, grants & public art 4. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) *2018 190 Building permits and 120 land use permits were issued. 1 2019 Accomplishments A Performance Report Selected Programs & Services • Received Grow Smart Award for McCall In Mo- tions Plans— Comprehen- sive Plan, Transportation Plan and Housing Strategy. • McCall Local Housing Pro- gram includes an incentive program, land baking fund, code updates and RFP. • New urban renewal district formed in downtown. • A civic campus master plan was developed and adopt- ed. • Code updates for Noncon- forming Chapter, Airport, Short Term Rentals and Local Housing. • Lardo Bridge Public Art Project installed • New Aerial Photo complet- ed • Community Boathouse Feasibility study adopted • Historic Tour App available for free download • Pioneer Hangar on National Registry of Historic Places 1 MCC ALL LIBRARY Planning for now and the future There were several major planning initiatives that occurred in 2019.
