DESIGNATING KAPLAN COMPANIES AS THE REDEVELOPER FOR
THE LOWER ROOSEVELT AVENUE BUSINESS DISTRICT
REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 03-02, passed on February 6, 2003, the Borough
of Carteret adopted the Redevelopment Plan for the redevelopment of the Lower
Roosevelt Avenue Business Redevelopment District ("LRABD"); and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council are desirous of designating a redeveloper to
initiate and complete the redevelopment of the LRABD subject to the negotiation
of an acceptable redevelopment agreement between both parties; and
WHEREAS, the Carteret Redevelopment Agency has unanimously
recommended Kaplan Companies of Highland Park as the preferred redeveloper
fi.om those that responded to the Agency's Request for Proposals for the
redevelopment of the LRABD.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey as follows:
1. That Kaplan Companies is hereby designated as the redeveloper
for the Lower Roosevelt Avenue Business District, subject to the negotiation and
execution of a redevelopment agreement between the parties.
2. That a copy of this ResolUtion be forwarded to the Carteret
Redevelopment Agency, Kaplan Compani¢.s. and (he Borough Attorney.
Adopted this 18th day of March, 2003
and certified as a true copy of the
original on March 19, 2003.
