The commission asks members of the public to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner with the commission members and with fellow citizens. At any time should any member of the commission or any citizen fail to observe this public charge, the chair or the chair’s designee will ask the offending person to leave the meeting until that individual regains personal control. Should decorum fail to be restored, the chair or the chair’s designee will recess the meeting until such time that a genuine commitment to this public charge can be observed. 1. Commission’s mission statement To identify, protect, and preserve Hillsborough’s architectural resources and to educate the public about those resources and preservation in general. The Hillsborough Historic District presents a visual history of Hillsborough’s development from the 1700s to the 1960s. In 1973, the town chose to respect that history through the passage of the preservation ordinance creating the historic district. 3. Agenda changes 4. Minutes review and approval A. Certificate of Appropriateness Application: 211 Caine St. — Applicant Frank Casadonte requests approval to erect a 14’ x 20’ smooth, hardie-sided shed in the rear yard of 211 Caine Street (PIN: 9874-18-6462). B. Certificate of Appropriateness Application: 114 N. Occoneechee St. — Applicants David Nesmith and Aparna Jonnal request approval to convert an existing side and rear porch to a screened porch, to remove an existing window, door, and rear chimney, and to add new windows and doors at 114 N. Occoneechee Street (PIN: 9864-86-0649). C. Certificate of Appropriateness Application: 225 E. Corbin St. — Applicant Cheryl Sampson requests after-the-fact approval to replace an iron guard rail on the second floor of the main house, to replace a previously-removed asphalt shingle roof with cedar shake roofing on the single-story addition, and to replace and expand a removed wood with welded wire fence with a new five-foot-tall wood and welded wire fence in the front and side yards at 225 E. Corbin Street (PIN: 9874-18-9986). D. Certificate of Appropriateness Application: 322 W. Queen St. — Applicant Brian Grant on behalf of Donna and Bruce Spencer requests approval to remove an existing rear deck, change an existing window to a door, re-frame and alter rooflines of the rear single-story addition, and to build an 18’x16’ bedroom addition with an 8’x24’ bathroom and closet, attached 576 sq. ft. garage, an 11.5’x23’ gallery, a 12’x18’ screened porch, and a 60 sq. ft. deck at 322 W.
