HomeMy Public PortalAbout2023.12.20 PRAC MinutesParks & Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes 12/20/2023 4:OOpm Legion Hall/Virtual Meeting- McCall, Idaho Committee Members Present: Gusti Laidlaw, Paul Christensen, Dave Petty, Larry Hauder, and Avi Azoulay. Staff Members Present: Kurt Wolf, Stefanie Bork Guests Present Steve Noyes Welcome: David Petty called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. Public Comment: Agenda Review & Updates: Review Minutes: November minutes were reviewed Larry Hauder motioned, seconded by Paul Christensen, all were in favor. Annual Report Kurt gave a brief review of the drafted annual report for 2023. Dave confirmed that he will be present to present at city council on December 281h. The annual report will highlight programming, projects, and accomplishments during the 2023 fiscal year. Dave brought a few questions to attention that he would like additional information to present to council: the difference of registrations from 22' to 23', total amount of waitlisted children, range of facility rental fees. Avi questioned speaking to specific projects and partnership highlights. Stefanie will update and share the final draft with committee members and submit it for the council packet. Open Seats Dave welcomed Steve Noyes and let him give a brief introduction of himself and his interest in joining the advisory committee. Steve recently moved to McCall fulltime but prior was a parttime resident. His experience relates to working/volunteering in the City of Eagle as a trails coordinator/planner and organization of events like classic car shows. Dave Petty's term has expired, and he has submitted interest in remaining on the board but stepping down as the Chair of the committee. Steve Johnson's term is also expiring and does not intend to renew his term. Letters of interest will be accepted till December 29th Recreation/Parks Updates Stefanie gave an update on closed and current recreation programming. Closed programming consisted of youth basketball for grades 3rd through 6th grade. Program surveys were released, and feedback has been positive, some would like to see a longer season this will be considered for the 2024 winter season. Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes 12/20/2023 4:00pm Legion Hall/Virtual Meeting- McCall, Idaho The annual tree lighting was a successful event with 100s in attendance. Santa visited with several children. The City giveaways consisted of mini stocking, candy cane, and squishy toy, 126 were given away within the first 45 minutes. Kurt spoke to current facilities maintenance for example updating changing tables within public restrooms, refurbishing picnic tables, historic museum site improvements, Legacy Park boat ramp railing being welded in-house by Eddie Heider, Roosevelt pocket park improvements and expending the remainder of funds on mobile landscape/nursery raised containers. Donation agreement with CIMBA to City Council for review scheduled on December 28tn Currently the property has been surveyed and The Land Group has created a design rendering pro-bono. TAF grant for Wooley pathway extension and completion is currently being applied for. Paul Christensen has drafted a letter of support representing the committee's support of the grant application. We also have received letters of support from Val Berg, MDSD- Barbara R. Morgan Elementary Principal focused on safe routes to school and prioritizing completing this missing portion of pathway. Conceptual drawings are being drafted by Kurt in house for Davis Beach improvements for spring/fall 2024 with a focus on erosion management and ADA pathway access for the site. The water intake building improvements have been completed through public works. The museum lease has been amended and renewed for a year. The museum board is not interested in leasing the property any longer but only managing the museum in the future as they are unable to keep up with facility maintenance portion of the buildings. Next Meeting Business Elect new chairman, Winter Carnival information, recommendation of open seats.
