The Local High_way Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC) provides an important
linkage between Loc~I Highway Jurisdictions (LHJs) and the Idaho Transporta~ion
Department in the uti,lization of Federal-aid highway funds available to ~he LHJs in
Idaho. LHTAC staff provides the administration,and oversight to ensure the Federal-
aid process is followed, and to protect the LHJ frpm repaying Federal funds. This letter
includes the status listing of current and upcoming local Federal-aid projects for

Description: This broject is for work to replace the 3-span steel truss bridge on Cove Road over
the Weiser River w)th a L-Spah steel girder bridge, and raise the approach grades.
Status: The Proje~t Consultant is currently working on Final Permits and Plan, Specifications,
and E~tiniate (PS~E) Submittc;1I so that construction funds can b.e obligated. The Right-of-Way
acquisition for this project is underway. ·

Description: The project will rehabilitate approximately 3.4 miles of Old Highway 30, a major
rural collector serv(ng northern Canyon County, as well as·southern Payette and Gem Counties.
This is the final phase of rehabilitating Old Highway 30 from the vicinity of Caldwell to Payette
County. ! ·
Status: The projedt·s Plan, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) has been submitted. The
project is currently'iwaiting for 2027 funding. Project received clear Right-of,.Way certificate and
environmental re-e'.valuation has been submitted to ITD for approval.

Description: The Ola Highway Improvement project is located near the unincorporated
comm·unity of Oia in Gem County. The project is anticipated to overlay two miles of existing
pavement and pav~ three miles of existing gravel road to keep paved roads in good condition
and also to pave al road that exceeds the Averge Daily Traffic for a gravel type surface-.
Status: The consu11tant has submitt~d draft Plan, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) :package

Description: This is a 0.55 mile long rehabilitation project on East Lake Fork Road between
Lake Fork .Creek ~ridge-arid the intersection with SH 55. This project is expected to widen the
roadway and less~n the vertical grade near the SH-55 intersection tq bring it into compliance
with current standards. Additional improvements will inQlude replacing deteriorated culverts at
an irrigation canal crossing; acquiring Right-of-Way, and mitigating impacts to wetlands adjacent

Pine-Featherville Rd Rehab, Mt Home HD, Sponsor: Mountain Home HD, Key

Description: This project will rehabilitate the roadway surface with the use of CRABS (Cement
Recycled Asphalt Base Stabilization) process. The paved roa·dway currently varies between 22
feet and 26 feet wi~e with approximately 1 foot gravel shoulder on both sides of the road. The
new design will m~intain 26 feet of pavement with 2 foot gravel shoulders. The project will also
include the replacement of one set of culverts at Dog Creek with a clear span bridge.

Description: This J?roject will reconstruct three intersection on Peckham Road at Travis Road,
Allendale Road and Van Slyke Road. Each intersection is substandard for truck turning
movements. The reconstruction will provide large turning radii to eliminate truck off-tracking and
reduce edge breakpp. The intersection improvements will also allow trucks to maintain their own
travel lane while m~king turns ..
