Phone Spoofing Scams Callers can now spoof any phone number’s CallerID when they call. With all the personal data leaked over the internet, scammers can determine your email and phone, as well as those of your friends and family. If you get an unsolicited call regarding trouble with your computer or someone claiming to be contacting you as or for a loved one, do not send money without first confirming their claim is real. Several Tybee residents have been hit with such calls of late. Microsoft does NOT give you a toll free number to call to clean viruses from your computer. Call your relative yourself to determine their safety! Educate yourself on identifying such dangers using the rather extensive list of scam articles found at https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/f eatures/scam-alerts.
