Pedestrian Crossings
Vehicles must stop at any marked intersection, with or without lights, if any pedestrian is attempting to cross. It is illegal to pass a car stopped at a crosswalk – visibility is restricted
so assume a pedestrian is crossing. Pedestrians, PLEASE, use marked crosswalks and always operate the lights. You may think they’re silly, but you are helping to train drivers! After
pedestrians clear the intersection, vehicles may proceed without waiting for flashers to stop.
WATCH OUT FOR KIDS!
Cyclists, please, use 2nd Ave/Van Horn bike route. Cyclists have all responsibilities of vehicles, including stopping at stop signs! Cyclists also have all rights of motor vehicles.
Drivers must provide 3’ clearance when passing a cyclist!
Tybee Community Day
Don’t miss the annual Oct 14 Community Day in Memorial Park. Food, fun, live music, and celebration of the end of the season for locals. 1-5 PM.
Seasonal Reminders
It’s still turtle season. It’s still hurricane season. The school year is still under way. Stay safe, stay alert, stay away from turtles, and keep lights off the beaches. It’s been a
great turtle season this year, with 23 nests and 20 hatches so far!

Halloween – To Trick or to Trunk
It is not yet clear at the time of this writing whether Halloween will be hosted by Lewis Ave residents as has been our tradition. The Y has already made plans to host the Trunk-or-Treat
event in Memorial Park. Call the Y at 912.786.YMCA if you wish to participate there. We believe the Lewis Ave event will also take place, but are not certain. Check the city’s calendar
at https://www.cityoftybee.org/Calendar.aspx as well as our News Flash on the home page, and we’ll make an announcement when we can clarify details!
