HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-03-2018 Joint Meeting LDDC & Public Outreach Joint Meeting of the Landmarks & District Designation and Public Outreach Subcommittees Record of Minutes Date: May 3, 2018 Location: Village Hall CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL Commissioner Hagen called the meeting to order at 5:06 p.m. Roll call was taken: Commissioners Hagen, Hendricksen, Olsen, and Chairman Bortel were present. Commissioners Barvian, Derrick, Hagen, Lucas, Rapp, and Schmidt were absent. Also in Attendance: Kendra Kuehlem, Associate Planner; and Jonathan Proulx, Director of Planning APPROVAL OF MINUTES The LDDC and Public Outreach Joint minutes dated April 5, 2018 Meeting were approved. OLD BUSINESS Preservation Awards Presentation - Joint COW & HPC Meeting May 14th Chairman Bortel stated there will be post cards sent inviting all the landmark properties and previous award recipients to the meeting. Historic Guidelines Manual No Update. Preservation Watch List Chairman Bortel stated list is being updated. 24120-24122 W. Lockport St. No Update. Route 59 Business Transition District (BTD) Property Owners Chairman Bortel stated video was taken of Herbst Financial Advisors building. Sovereign/Norview/Trolley Barn Chairman Bortel stated he went by the Trolley Barn and it does not appear there has been an work completed. 24029 (506) W. Lockport Street No Update. 24038 (503) W. Main Street – Plainfield (Halfway) House Landmark Nomination NEW BUSINESS Baci’s Chairman Bortel stated he met with David Smith and Commissioner Schmidt to discuss the demolition of Baci’s. Chairman Bortel stated Mr. Smith wants to build a bouteq hotel. Farnsworth House Tour Chairman Bortel provided the commissioners on the details of the tour. Chairman Bortel stated he will invite the Village Board and spouses to the tour. DISCUSSION Joint LDDC & Public Outreach Minutes May 3, 2018 Page 2 of 2 Chairman Bortel stated that Herbst Financial Advisors have been added to the East Side Historic District. Chairman Bortel stated there are three more properties that he will approach about becoming part of the East Side Historic District. Mr. Proulx stated Herbst Financial Advisors may still need to have a public hearing before the HPC to add them into the district. Commissioner Olsen stated there is a house near Dillman and Corbin that would like to be landmarked. Mr. Proulx stated he and Chairman Bortel met with Bill Anderson who owns a house near Fox River and Chicago, and wants to tear it down to build a duplex home.
