A SPECIAL ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN APPEAL TO THE STATE
BOARD OF TAX COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is necessary to seek relief from
property tax levy limitations pursuant to I.C. 6-1.1-18.5-12 in order
to maintain essential services and functions for the citizens of the
City of Richmond; and
WHEREAS, specifically it has been determined that the City of Richmond seek
permission for relief from the property tax levy limitations based
upon any applicable ground, including, but not limited to, the
property tax revenue shortfall pursuant to I.C. 6-1.1-18.5-16; and
WHEREAS, Indiana Code 6-1.1-17-15 requires the Richmond Common
Council to authorize the filing of said appeal.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, that it is deemed necessary to initiate an appeal to the State Board of Tax
Commissioners for an increase in the tax levy for the City of Richmond for taxes payable in
1997 for any applicable reasons as set forth in I.C. 6-1.1-18.5-13, I.C. 6-1.1-18.5-16, or
any other applicable section, in order to maintain essential services and functions including
the safety of the citizens of the City of Richmond, and that the resolution made herein in the
form of a special ordinance be signed by Mayor Dennis Andrews and Council President
Geneva Allen.
Passed and adopted this A day 1996, by the Common Council of
the City of Richmond, Indiana.
