The minutes of the last neetin; were read and signed.
Petition to State Highway Co:m,issior_er :
I7hereas,it is representod to the Council that the State Highway
Authorities of Virginia are now engaged in repairing the Public road known
as Part 2 of the State Highway road leading from Point of Rocks Md.,to Aldie
Virginia. And,whereas,the said road passes directly through the town of
I,eesburg,along its principal street (known as King Street) a distance of
about four fifths of a mile, constituting an unavoidable necessary link in the
same; And whereas,said. portion of sad road within the corporation limits
of said Town,being in about ti -e wane condition as rest of the road of which
it forms a part,is In need of repsirs to make it uniform with the rest of the
load.; And whereas,owing to the financial condition in which the Town of
Leesburg now is we are unable to make the needed repairs to the Streets of
the town and at the time make the repairs required to King Street and to put
it in accord with the rest of the road,and not mar the condition of the later

py a short link within the town limits left in bad order. The town had a
population, according to the last census,of about 1545 and is burdened by a j
considerable outstanding bonded and other indebtedness; Thereford be it re- `I!
solved: let. That this coureil doth hereby petition t e authorities of the

Engir_eer,or-whoever may be ir. charge of said work be instructedd accordingly 171
to treat said street as other parts of said road in making said repairs. I�!
2nd. That a copy of this petition signed on behalf of the Council by the
Mayor and attested by the Recorder be forwarded to HOn,o.P.Colemon,State High-
way Commissiorer,to be laid before the said Commission for such favorable i
action as may be proper in the premises.
