Pedestrian Crossings
If any pedestrian is attempting to cross, vehicles must stop at any marked intersection with or without lights. It is illegal to pass a car stopped at a crosswalk – visibility is restricted
so assume a pedestrian is crossing. Pedestrians, PLEASE, use marked crosswalks and always operate the lights. You may think they’re silly, but you are helping to train drivers! After
pedestrians clear the intersection, vehicles may proceed without waiting for flashers to stop.
WATCH OUT FOR CHILDREN!
Cyclists, please, use 2nd Ave/Van Horn bike routes. Cyclists have all responsibilities of vehicles, including stopping at stop signs! Cyclists also have all rights of motor vehicles.
Drivers must provide 3’ clearance when passing a cyclist!
Tybee for the Holidays
Tybee for the Holidays kicks off November 22nd (Thanksgiving Day) with Decorating Day following on Saturday, November 24th. Lights on for Tybee Celebration is Friday, November 30th,
at 6:30pm downtown Tybee.
Several events, including the Christmas Parade, Bike Parade, and Floating Parade will be taking place during the month of December. Check out http://www.tybeefortheholidays.com for all
the holiday info - including events, dining, special days to shop, etc.
Veterans Day Observed November 12
Also, City Offices will close Monday, November 12th, in observance of Veterans Day. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 an armistice between Germany and the Allied
nations came into effect. On June 1, 1954, November 11, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a day to honor all American veterans, where ever and whenever they had served. Thank you,
all veterans, for your dedication and service. Our veterans have sacrificed to keep the world safe from despots and would-be rulers, as have those who have served in many other countries.
Let this day be a day to unite in thanks to those who have kept for us the freedoms and advantages of our lives today.
City Manager’s Morning In
City Manager Shawn Gillen is at the Tybean most Friday mornings for coffee in Tybee Oaks between 9 - 10 AM. You’ll have to get your own coffee, but share of mind with the CM comes free!
