On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 an armistice between Germany and the Allied nations came into effect. On June 1, 1954, November 11, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a day to honor all American veterans, where ever and whenever they had served. Thank you, all veterans, for your dedication and service. Our veterans have sacrificed to keep the world safe from despots and would-be rulers, as have those who have served in many other countries. Let this day be a day to unite in thanks to those who have kept for us the freedoms and advantages of our lives today.
