HomeMy Public PortalAboutTBM 1995-06-07The regular meeting of the Town Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Board present were Mayor Jensen, Wirsing, Havens, Johnston, and Becky Swatzell. Also present were Reid and Winter. Minutes of the May 3, 1995 meeting were approved as written. MANAGER REPORT JUNE 7, 1995 TOWN BOARD Reid reported that the May clean up day was a success, and wanted the Board to be aware that Grand Disposal not only donated the roll off to the community free of charge but also took tires and did not charge the Town for this pickup. Board expressed great appreciation to Grand Disposal for this community donation. June 10th is the community cleanup. Flyers have been distributed to neighborhoods, and the roll off will be staffed to assure that the appropriate materials are dumped as well as monitoring that only town persons dump. Reid reported that there is not enough fuel in the tanks at the Mustang to entice pumping at no charge and he is still working on resolving the clean up of the site. This however will take some time to resolve. Ice Breakers met on May 25th and discussed Downtown design criteria, Growth issues and Sign Code changes as issues the group will work on. Mt. Comfort Furniture Store will be seeking approval to have a blimp during a sale. Board expressed that would not have a problem but the sign code variance procedure will need to be followed. Wally Alves is back in the valley and Reid has met with him regarding designing landscaping necessary to reduce the impact of the building that will be burned down. Reid will continue to work on this project. Reid mentioned that the acting Fire Chief was not as interested in burning building as in the past. Town would like to express to the Fire District the need to accommodate burns to get rid of older, dilapidated buildings. Reid reminded the Board of the Housing Meeting set for June 15. 1995 at 7:00 n_m_ at the Town Hall. Reps. from the Division of Housing will be there as well as the other jurisdictions. Board liked this community effort and gave approval to the plan. SPORTS COMPLEX Connor Shepherd, Rec. Dist. Manager gave a presentation on the new sports complex that will be under construction soon. Shepherd advised of the work that would be done with funds available and projects that would be phased in as funds became available. Also reviewed was the water right that is being leased for a 5 year period from Winter Park West. County Commissioner Thompson was asked his interpretation of the meeting with the Water Conservation District with regard to the pump back. Further investigating needs to be done. Chamber has asked for release of event funds for the 4th of July. Board approved. TCI is raising fees. Skid Steer purchase is on hold. Reid to check with Jim Fulton regarding stacking of hay on the US 40 trail. Special water testing to be done in June to monitor impact of high water table. Reid to get Flood Insurance information out to the public. Town will be working on a flood Plan. Berthoud Pass closure signs were discussed. Johnston asked to have the Dog Ordinance discussion at the first meeting in July. Wirsing perceives enforcement of the currant Ordinance as the key factor in the problem.
