Messrs Caviness,Carr and Clemens vere eppointod a eemmittoo to investigate the addition license for the sale of gasoline etc. The Committee appointed to pact' upon the application on C.D.Painter for the installation of a gas tank 1 front of r•1: place on North Ring Street filed their report to the effect that the application had neon approved and the tans; installed. A The Sergeant was instructed to see that the street in front of Mr. Be McDonald and that of Mr. W.C.Hall be put in good con-ition aLe one . I. -lir. R. D. Shvey reported that hed purchased a horse for the town of Leesburg VWyxaxC at a coat of $150. Mr. W.C.WhitmorR was appointed a committee to survey L1,e road from a Point in front of Mr. B.V.White's residence to the top of the hill in front Of Mrs Pike's gate. Bbds of Mrs A.B.Richard and Mr. H.E.Cole for making out water bills for the Lwon were presented and on motion a recorded vote was taken and resulted as fellows; Mrs Richard received five votes and Mr.Cole received one vote, whereupon Mrs Richard was given the appointment, term of o --ice from Sept 1st 1924 to Aug 31st 1925, al Meved,seeonaed and ordered that the tenants of the town hail property be exempt from Paying for water privilege. Bill of Alexandria Iron Works was presented and ordered paid. t Ordinance- The Mayor of Leesburg on complaint that any dog 11, Mali or has attacked or bitten anybedy,or is a dangerous animal,or is a menace to the safety of any person,or their property,shall issue e warrant or summons against the owner of such dog or any person navinK the custody thereof setting forth therein the said complaint and re- quiring such owner or custodian to appear and anriwer said complaint. And on the hearing theroo?,if ho believes Qrom the evidence that Ruch complaint is true he shall enter a judgment o:' guilty and fine the owner or custodian of such dog so that the fine be not lean than9?2,50 nor more than $100.00,ard in his discretion may order that the Sergeant shall kill such dog and it shall thereupon become the duty of the Tovn Sergeant to kill the same,or he may order the dog muzzled or confinea within certain limits or he may enter as zany of above requisments oollectively as may suit the nature of the case. W.C.Hall in said case,and Whereas tie said Town did authorize said apoeal and all the various actions that have been taken in said case by the said W.C.Hall as their Attorney,and Whereas it is not correct that said appeal vaa not authorized, There fozv be it Resolved t -at Hoh. Be It Resolved by the Council of the Town of Leesburg,Vir-Ania,that the Governer of Virginia be and he is hereby requested to allot to the Town of Leesburg such captured relics of the World Bar as such town shall be entitled to under a proper distribution,and be it further Resolved that t is request be also transmitted to uon E.B.White and Hon. Wilbur C.Hall,that they may use their influeree in the matter. Ordered that tY.o Council adjourn until the next regular meeting. Harrison,Mayer,John T.Heurihans Recorder,and J.R. Clemens,Jos*phus Carr, i.D.Shrey, W.C.Vlhitmore an o W.B.Caviness,councilmen. . The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mr. Emeriek,Supt of Scheols,came before the Council in reference to the auyeunt due t -e Scheel from taxes collected. The Mayer appointed Messrs Whit- more and Clemens a cOM- ittee to investigate the matter and report to the town Council at the next regular meeting'. Messrs Clemens,Carr and Whitmore vnre appointed a committee to formulate sole v4tiVw� (1 plan or syst sa by which the council weytic be advised monthly as to the financial condition of the town. - ✓` On motion duly seconded and carried it r. Forsyth, Sergeant, was granted 15 -eye vacation beginning Sept lot. On mation oily seconded e bi�l of Mr.Dwyor was ordered paid. On motion auly seeon•ed permissi:ms is given Mrs Sudio Cunningham to remove tl'-e curbing in front of Leesburg Imn 18 in. vastly of its present location jusr so long as the building with porches and steps on said he el premises is kepi at least 14 in easterly of the p -esent building line at that looutien. Mr.W.B. Caviness was appointed a committee to deal with Mrs Cunningham in this matter.
