December 19, 1988
The Tybee Island City Council held a special meeting, properly
advertised in advance, on Monday, December 19, 1988 at Tybee City Hall.
Mayor Walter W. Parker presided. Councilmembers present were: Jean Davis,
John O'Neill, Bill Walsh, Jack Youmans and Chris Solomon. Paul Jackson was
absent, out of town on business. The City Attorney, Thomas J. Mahoney, Jr.,
was present.
A letter from Waste Management Corporation was read, announcing
an increase of 3.6% as of December 1st, under the terms of the contract.
The Mayor's Day in Atlanta trip was discussed. Councilman Youmans
moved that council's wives be included, and Councilman O'Neill seconded.
The vote was 4 - 1 in favor of the motion, with Councilman Walsh dissenting.
Mr. Mahoney requested that any new information offered on zoning or other
legal matters be brought back to him.
The business license schedule revisions, given to members well in
advance of the meeting, was the final agenda item. Councilman Walsh moved
and Councilmember Davis seconded, its approval. The vote was 2 (named here-to-
fore) in favor to 3 (Councilmen Youmans, O'Neill and Solomon) against.
A motion, in response to a recommendation by the City Attorney, was made by
Councilman O'Neill that the 1988 license schedule remain in force for 1989.
Councilman Solomon seconded and the vote was 5 - 0.
The meeting was adjourned.
